DOING THE ROUNDS The display changes more or less frequently depending on the amount of work to show and it is not in the order it arrives.

By the large pillar-box, second show in August

The August stroll in Beckenham High Street. The STG by the fish and chips shop. On the way home we met the local bobby and thus the Met (London Metropolitan Police) was introduced to Mail Art.

Constable Palmer of the Met, a new friend. That is his serious face when meeting suspicious trolleys, but he can also reassure law abiding citizens with his friendly smile.

Almost at the end of July and the STG has at last a full load. This month has been a quiet one at the Gallery as the Clown Parade  has taken precedence. That is now closed so more artwork has been arriving for the ongoing show on the trolley.
In the photos it is proudly taking Mail Art to Dawn Redwood's, who celebrated another birthday with friends and received a Mail Art hamper from Walmarth, delivered by the STG . The artwork on the background is Dawn's, who is an excellent plastic artist  as well as a performing one.

Buying second hand books at the shed in Nymans. The same convenient place for our outings. I bought a book on Tai Chi and I am practising a bit at a time. I still have not mastered the warm up but hope to be an expert by the end of the Year of the Rooster. There the trolley was properly appreciated. Obviously people that read are more inclined to enjoy the strange and the bizarre. Also the place was more suitable for quiet contemplation.

Lunch at Nymans on a hot day in mid June. We go once a week when the weather is nice to get some fresh air and a snack and, of course, the STG is trailing behind while we walk around the gardens. We are keeping to the shade, rare in England but we have a heat wave.

The post in May became sparse due no doubt to the parallel Clown Parade Project so this month the show is late. When finally it was on we took the STG  to the park of a manor house we visit frequently, called  Nymans, near Handscross, West Sussex. A surprise was waiting for us. There was an art show by the Hart Group of local artists, one of whom had the brilliant idea of painting a panel with a beautifully flowing sketch of woodlands for children to add flowers to it. The artist, Phillip Ladd, allowed me to  join in the fun with a little red flower, as you can see.

Last show of April. Under a cherry tree in the front garden of somebody who happens to live conveniently on the way to the High Street. It is a dismal spring day, dull and not too warm as we have been having recently and most of the flowers have already dropped but the STG looks very colourful with its art load.

Beginning of April. This time we went to a nursery to buy plants; a few pinks and an air plant which is hanging from the handle of the trolley. It was tempting to leave it there but it would  not survive our climate outdoors so now it is in the bathroom where it gets an even temperature and plenty of moisture.

 RIBBON GALLERY
Last show of March. The Ribbon Gallery, a portable devise to take Mail Art with me when going on holiday. This time it is displayed on a heart sculpture in the entrance of our hotel in Bad Blumau, Austria. Couples on honeymoon fix locks on it to seal their promises to each other. Ahhhh!...

First Show of March I asked the security man for permission to tale a photo and he asked the lady in the help desk who asked me what it was, very suspiciously eyeing the STG. When I said it was an art project she smiled and said OK.

Horror! The first outing of the STG and we find the Post Office closed. They have moved to a shop in the High Street, with less services and more queues.

    1. Thanks! and yes, is it not a pity to be so near and refused entry. A banana in the stone age would have been fab. Still it may happen. Scientists in Retailia have invented the Retrovisual drone which as it name does not indicate can take photos of past events.
